Former Tennessee QB Josh Dobbs reveals Josh Heupel's favorite Vols uniform combination

Former Tennessee Vols quarterback Josh Dobbs revealed head coach Josh Heupel's favorite UT uniform combination this week and the traditionalists are going to have a hard time with it.

During a recent interview with Vols wide receiver Dont'e Thornton for TPL Tennessee, Dobbs pointed out that Heupel's favorite uniform combination is Tennessee's dark mode look.

"The dark mode, Coach Heupel was just in here, he said dark mode is his favorite," said Dobbs.

There's nothing like the orange and white look for the Vols. It's one of the best uniforms in college football. It's a classic and unique look that stands the test of time.

But there's definitely something special about the dark mode look. There's a certain electricity that's in the air when the Vols wear the dark mode uniforms (especially if it's a night game...in fact, they should only be used for night games).

Before the traditionalists get too upset, Heupel made it clear in 2021 that he loves Tennessee's orange and white uniforms.

"I think it’s important you’re able to put a new-age approach on things and it was important to our players," said Heupel during Vol Calls in 2021. "This is an opportunity to put a new-age approach on it. [It's] important to our players. It’s part of recruiting in today’s landscape, too."

"We have the greatest college uniforms in college football," added Heupel. "I mean, our traditional look is unbelievable and our combinations, that helmet when you’re under the lights is special, the way that thing sparkles."

Recruits and players seem to also love the dark mode look, so it makes sense that Tennessee is going to continue to utilize them.
