Eagles' Josh Sweat Fined by NFL
Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports

Philadelphia Eagles defensive end Josh Sweat has been fined $16,391 for a low hit he made against quarterback Zach Wilson in Sunday's 20-14 loss to the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium. He wasn't flagged for roughing the pass or unnecessary roughness on Wilson during the game despite the fine.

Sweat, who has posted 17 total tackles, 3.5 sacks, two forced fumbles and one pass defense this season, got a big sack at the start of the fourth quarter that halted New York's drive and led to an Eagles field goal attempt on the ensuing possession. However, both Sweat's and the defense's efforts would go to waste after the always-reliable Jake Elliott surprisingly missed a 37-yard field goal to keep Philly's lead at 14-12. The Eagles would end up going scoreless in the second half.

The offense being unable to complement the defense's performance was the theme on a day where the Jets were 2 of 11 on third down, didn't find the end zone until the 1:46 mark of the fourth quarter, and got just 186 passing yards from Wilson.

But it's clear that Sweat remains a vital piece of this elite defensive line. He said before the season started that "the best is yet to come," a mindset he and the Eagles will be needing in Sunday night's meeting with the Miami Dolphins (5-1) at Lincoln Financial Field.

"I feel great and I feel like the best is yet to come," Sweat told PhiladelphiaEagles.com. "You figure this game out after you've been here for some time and you know what you have to do to take your game to new levels. I know it's being cliché, but it's about being consistent and building off what usually works for you. Whatever you're good at, just get better at that and stick with it."

Miami and Philadelphia will kickoff at 8:20 p.m. ET.
