Los Angeles Clippers’ Tyronn Lue Speaks On Mavs’ Playoff Series
Mike Watters-USA TODAY Sports

After a challenging period post-All-Star break, the Los Angeles Clippers have regrouped, though their earlier struggles have left them short of the top three spots in the Western Conference. They now face a familiar foe in the Dallas Mavericks, setting the stage for an intense NBA playoff battle that promises to captivate fans of both teams.

Historically, the Clippers have had the upper hand against the Mavericks, securing victories in 2020 and 2021 despite stellar performances from Luka Doncic. However, this year’s Mavericks squad is not the same as before.

Dallas poses a new threat level with the addition of Kyrie Irving and a bolstered defense featuring P.J. Washington, Daniel Gafford, and Dereck Lively II.

Clippers coach Tyronn Lue is already deep in preparation, aware of the challenges that Doncic and the upgraded Mavericks present.

“I’ve already started,” Lue commented on his playoff preparations, highlighting his proactive approach to the upcoming series.

Lue is renowned for his strategic adaptability during playoffs, often making significant adjustments mid-series. In 2021, he famously shifted his lineup to counter Doncic’s dominance, benching Ivica Zubac and Patrick Beverley.

Despite the less-than-ideal fourth seed—a position from which only one team has clinched the NBA championship since 1969—, the Clippers benefit from knowing their opponent well in advance, allowing them to tailor their strategies effectively.

As the playoffs approach, the Clippers are poised to prevent the Mavericks from progressing past the first round again, aiming to secure another deep postseason run.
