Eagles injury report: Reed Blankenship looks set to make his return in week 8
Nathan Ray Seebeck-USA TODAY Sports

The Philadelphia Eagles have released their second injury report ahead of this week’s clash against the Washington Commanders and there’s some good news for Philly fans after a tough few weeks of injury-related setbacks.

Eagles finally catch a break

After missing week 7’s win over the Dolphins, Reed Blankenship returned to practice as a full participant. Wednesday’s practice was only a walkthrough, so it’s beyond promising to see him practice fully on Thursday.

The starting safety has been dealing with a rib injury picked up in the loss to the Jets. Even if he is unable to play this week, Kevin Byard has arrived to provide some stability in the secondary. The duo will make quite a formidable force in Sean Desai’s defense.

The better news is that if Blankenship is healthy, the back-end is going to be the healthiest it’s been all year.

Bradley Roby missed Wednesday’s walkthrough as well as Thursday’s practice, which doesn’t bode well for an early return from his shoulder injury.

It’s likely that the Eagles will be aiming to push James Bradberry inside and ride the hot hands of Eli Ricks on the outside. The rookie continues to show up and make big-time plays.

The four limited participants are likely still nursing nagging setbacks but were all fully active in the win over the Miami Dolphins and none were absent from yesterday’s walkthrough, which should be an encouraging sign that they’ll all be good to go on Sunday.

What about Jalen Hurts?

The player everyone is curious about, however, is starting QB, Jalen Hurts. The $255-man was spotted wearing a knee brace during the second half of Sunday night’s win. However, it didn’t stop tying Randall Cunningham for the most rushing touchdowns of all time by an Eagles quarterback.

Hurts took to the podium on Wednesday to say that there’s nothing to be concerned about. Nick Sirianni stated that the quarterback is expected to start on Sunday.

The team is set to face Washington on Sunday and will run their practice of the week tomorrow where we can get a better gauge on the injury status of all of the players mentioned in this article.
